The Chennault International Airport Authority has declared an extreme Public Emergency

NOTICE

The Chennault International Airport Authority has declared an extreme Public Emergency regarding the extensive damage caused by Hurricane Laura.

Hurricane Laura was an unforeseen mischance bringing with it destruction of public property and the imminent threat of further damage to Chennault publicly-owned facilities; and

The current damage and potential further damage caused by Hurricane Laura will not admit the delay incident to advertising as provided in Title 38 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes, Chapter10, Part II; and
The CHENNAULT INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT has received extensive damage within the confines of the facility which entails Hangars, Buildings, equipment, perimeter security and fencing, and unforeseen purchases on August 27, 2020, as direct result of Hurricane Laura; and
The Chennault International Airport Authority has entered into a sublease with the Northrop Grumman Corporation, Citadel Completions, LLC, Landlocked Aviation Services, and Louisiana Millwork, LLC, to provide hangar and building space; and
The Authority recognizes the need to act as quickly as possible to make these repairs, replacements and upgrades due to the safety and structural integrity of the hangars and buildings in the event of a subsequent weather event and the need to provide adequate facilities to enable its tenants to resume operations as quickly as possible; and
The Authority realizes that because of the urgent circumstances and the delays which would be caused by the adherence to the existing Public Bids Laws, and the extreme need to expedite the structural repairs and roof replacement of the hangars and buildings, or any other requirement that inhibits operations and mitigates safety and security of personnel and assets.
