Sowela Plane Revealed

LAKE CHARLES, LA.—Sowela Technical Community College’s Boeing 727-200 training aircraft has taken on a whole new look through a generous donation of labor and materials from Landlocked Aviation Services.

The aircraft, which was donated to Sowela by FedEx, is utilized for instructional purposes in Sowela’s Aviation Maintenance Technology program. The aircraft has been stored on the tarmac at the Chennault International Airport since its arrival and has been exposed to the weather on a daily basis, with the exterior paint deteriorated to the point of needing major improvements.

“Sowela’s Boeing 727 looks amazing,” stated Dr. Neil Aspinwall, Chancellor of Sowela. “Landlocked Aviation Services did a fantastic job refinishing the exterior of the jet. The jet will now be located closer to the Sowela aviation program hangar so the students can have easier access while working on the mechanical and electrical systems of the plane.

“I am very thankful to Landlocked Aviation Services and Chennault International Airport for their assistance with the completion of this project. This is another great business partnership that benefits Sowela’s students.”
