Northrop Grumman has built and maintained the Joint STARS military surveillance aircraft for the United States Air Force at Chennault since the turn of the century. During that time, its Chennault site has repeatedly ranked as the most productive plant in the Northrop Grumman family of companies and has also enjoyed the lowest employee turnover rate.
The Chennault International Airport Authority has worked closely with Northrop Grumman throughout its time in Lake Charles to provide the most efficient facilities possible, including modifications to transition the site to a new Joint STARS aircraft platform.

Louisiana Millwork, which began as a start-up company in Southwest Louisiana in 2000, is a major building materials manufacturer and supplier in the Louisiana and eastern Texas markets. The company has 75 employees. Louisiana Millwork supplies a growing line of products to the independently owned retail lumber and building material companies.
At the time of its start-up, Louisiana Millwork needed a large space, and room to grow, for manufacturing products as well as warehouse storage for distribution. Chennault provided the right space, price and operating costs. The Chennault site also offered the company immediate access to the interstate highway system at I-10 and I-210. These advantages enabled Louisiana Millwork to be immediately competitive and provided a position to grow its business and its workforce. Chennault and the Southwest Louisiana community take pride in helping business succeed with low costs and high quality in one package.
