Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry Explores Growth Opportunities at Chennault
Governor Jeff Landry, accompanied by members of the Southwest Louisiana Delegation, visited Chennault International Airport on Aug. 8 to discuss the airport’s significant economic contributions and explore opportunities for future growth. The visit included tours of the complex’s major aerospace employers: Northrop Grumman, LandLocked Aviation Services, and Citadel Completions.
Chennault International Airport, a key economic driver in the region, is home to over 1,000 employees working across these companies. The complex generates an impressive $410 million in annual economic impact, underscoring its importance to both the local and state economies.
Executive Director Kevin Melton, his wife Kim, and Lake Charles Mayor Nic Hunter welcomed Gov. Landry to the facility. The visit marked a significant moment for the airport, as discussions centered on potential collaborations between state and local officials to further enhance the airport’s infrastructure and support its continued growth.
During the visit, Gov. Landry expressed his commitment to working closely with local leaders to identify areas where the state can act as a partner in Chennault’s expansion efforts. “We want to sit down with you and understand exactly what we can do as a partner,” Gov. Landry stated, emphasizing the need for a collaborative approach to ensure the airport’s success.
